PVP -- How to Qualify
Cattle |
|
|
|
Qualifying cattle for
the Program is a simple
process that involves
the following steps: |
|
1.
Collect
age or source
information in CattleLog
2.
Request a
CattleLog Audit before
cattle leave farm/ranch
of origin
3.
A trained
CattleLog agent will
conduct an on-site audit
to verify the
information you have
collected
4.
Cattle
will be marked as
verified for age and/or
source and official
documentation will be
sent to you |
|
Below are some examples
of the required data
fields and some examples

Verification
Service -- How
It Works |
|
|
|
CattleLog
Verification
Services is
comprised of two
unique
components: |
|
|
|
1.
On-site Data
Verification
2.
CattleLog
Listing Service
|
|
On-Site Data
Verification |
|
On-site data
audits are
required for all
animals verified
through the
CattleLog
Verification
Service. A
trained
CattleLog Agent
visits each
customer’s
location,
reviews their
herd records,
interviews the
personnel
responsible for
the cattle at
that location,
views the
cattle, and
makes an
assessment to
approve the
verification
application or
not.
If this sounds
involved, you’re
right – it is.
The buyers
interested in
these cattle –
feedyards,
packers, and
premium programs
– demand the
highest degree
of assurances
and validation
for cattle that
supply their
specialty and
branded product
lines. On-site
assessments are
the only way to
ensure the data
claims our
customers make
are valid. We
provide
guidelines to
CattleLog
customers to
assist them
through the
on-site
verification
process.
Approved animals
are documented
with an official
approval letter
that does two
things: (A)
notes which data
claims have been
verified, and
(B) individually
lists all
approved
animals. This
documentation
may be provided
to buyers in
order to meet
their respective
QSA or PVP
requirements. |
|
|
|
CattleLog
Listing Service |
|
The CattleLog
Listing Service
is an optional
service that is
only available
to CattleLog
customers with
approved
animals. These
customers may
elect to post
basic sale
information
regarding their
cattle. The
CattleLog
Listing Service
allows a wider
audience of
interested
buyers to see
what cattle are
available and
make contact
with the seller
or seller’s
representative.
Since the
inception of
CattleLog data
verification
programs in
2005, CattleLog
customers have
reported average
premiums of
$2-3/cwt for
calves with
verified data.
We encourage the
seller to
continue to list
whatever
marketing
channel they
have used in the
past. Livestock
markets, order
buyers, video
sales, and other
marketing
opportunities
are excellent
ways to market
approved cattle.
Sellers can even
list the sale
location or sale
catalog if they
choose.
eMerge is not
involved, in any
capacity, in the
purchase
transaction
between the
buyer and
seller. |
